Why cant we go for some different structural design for residential buildings rather than conventional ones....?

Its not a bad idea to build a residential building as a cantilever structure. When the type of soil is pure clay and large amount of differential settlements are expected, it is better to go for a cantilever structure as it will be more economical and also attractive. It may look awkward to people initially but when they get used to it, they will know its comfortability. High supervision is required while executing this type of project as little fault results in huge loss.

I came across a lot of situations which made me to think something else and that ended up with this thought. I just want you to have a look at it and suggest me if I am wrong.
